WORKING WITH SCHOOLS

Fenland Youth Arts welcomes the opportunity to work with schools to engage with as many young people as possible. We feel that the creative options available through arts activities are beneficial in  alleviating stress, building confidence and creating a positive mindset.

Whilst many schools face increasingly tight budgets and difficult curriculum choices, FYA is a not for profit organisation and is able to offer a cost effective way for your school to introduce students to the arts.

The Fenland Youth Arts programme can be tailored to students in KS2, KS3 and KS4 and is fully accessible to young people of all abilities. All activities work on building self esteem and confidence by focusing on communication skills, positivity, sharing ideas and  team work. No previous experience is required.

FYA is able to offer schools two options: a regular after school club or one day workshop style events.

After School Clubs

After school clubs are available and are run on a weekly basis for 45-60 mins (or in line with your other after school activities). The students will experience and take part in a range of creative arts games and activities all designed to build confidence and communication skills. Places need to be booked for a minimum of half a term at a time.

One Day Workshops

Students will take part in a group arts activity - there are many options available according to the size and age of the group. The activity can be adapted to fit with ongoing schemes of work or linked to the curriculum. The group activity could be book making, a dance project, drama performance, art / craft project etc.

Students will also work together to find out about an artist / performer / craftsperson and have the opportunity to share their arts discoveries with other students, teachers or parents.

All participants will have the opportunity to work towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification in the accredited Arts Awards programme*.

*It is possible for participants to complete the Arts Award Discover in one day workshops or over one half term of after school clubs. All other levels require a longer commitment from the young people starting with a minimum of one term for Arts Award Explore.
